It's late and I need to go to sleep. But I've been surfing blogs, and I got inspired.
Jay and I went to see another movie tonight. We saw March of the Penguins, which was good. I don't know if you can actually "spoil" a movie like this, but here's a cut anyway. Antarctica is utterly crazy, with all the ice block landscapes, and those penguins have the most elaborately flawed method of breeding. The sad thing is that stupid as it is, it's the best way. If there was an easier way that gave decent survivability of the offspring, the penguins would use it. The whole movie was: "Here are some penguins, aren't they cute? They live in the lovely sea, but they have to go on a death march in order to breed. Isn't it sad? The penguins love each other very much, but they are very hungry. Many of them will freeze or starve. Isn't that sad? And the ones who don't freeze or starve might get eaten. Isn't that sad? Ooh, this is depressing. Here are some pictures of cute baby penguins and a little message of hope for the end of the movie."
The visit with Rob, Valerie, and Verna was really nice. We talked while Perry napped, and then we went out for gelato. Tomorrow I'll take Perry to San Francisco and we'll go to the park in the morning.
